Community Crochet: Bringing the Coast to Colorado is a project that brings together marine scientists, community members, and yarn artists to co-create an interactive, yarn diorama that depicts the complex connections in coastal ecosystems and Colorado. Through a series of workshops, community members and artists of all ages will learn about coastal communities, including plants, animals, and people, and some of the challenges that coastal communities face. They will also learn about our connection to the ocean, as we depend on and influence the health of the ocean, even from landlocked Colorado.
By weaving together our yarn, our stories, and our experiences to create a visual of a complex system, we will also develop our own interconnected community. Community Crochet: Bringing the Coast to Colorado serves as a reminder of how each of us are connected to each other and the natural world, and that our actions can have ripple effects.
