The Collective Presents: "The Dance of Social Justice" Artist Talk
Join The Collective for a special Artist Talk with Q&A with Helanius J. Wilkins. Through storytelling and visual aids (photography/video), award-winning choreographer, performance artist, educator, and activist Helanius J. Wilkins illuminates personal insights on artmaking and community building, and unapologetically bridges the arts and social justice. He frames this talk by examining how his identity and experiences shape his performance practices, which are rooted in resilience and resistance. This talk offers an introduction to his most ambitious work to date, "The Conversation Series: Stitching the Geopolitical Quilt to Re-Body Belonging," and the sharing of recent experiences in bringing the work to life. The talk will be followed by a question and answer session.
