Celebration of Day of the Dead (Dia De Los Muertos) & Live Performance by Basho

All ages - Celebrate Day of the Dead/Día De Los Muertos at the Lafayette Public Library on Oct. 30.

Kick off the festivities at 11am with a storytime and live performance by Basho & Friends.Then, from 11:45am - 1pm, all ages are invited to participate in Day of the Dead/Día De Los Muertos crafts and explore ofrendas (traditional memorial altars) throughout the Library made by Lafayette community members.

At this time, face coverings are required indoors for individuals 2 years and older regardless of vaccination status. Visit our Reopening Details page for the most current protocols.

Location: as protocols during COVID-19 can change, storytimes may be held outside, upstairs in the Kid Zone, or in the Lower-Level Meeting Room. Please check the storytime sign in the Lobby for the most updated location information.


Call for Day of the Dead Altars: Lafayette Public Library is looking for individuals, families, or groups to create an altar for our Día de Los Muertos (Day of the Dead) community display Oct. 16-Nov. 13. Sign up by Oct. 8! Call Angelique Velasco at 303-661-1165 or email her by Oct. 8. Angelique will follow up with you to schedule a time to set up your altar. 

Create mini diorama altars: Pick up a small box (while supplies last) from the Lafayette Public Library starting Oct. 1 to create your own mini diorama altar honoring a loved one. Using materials from home, honor a family member, friend, pet, or celebrity that passed away. Include a description of your loved one. Get creative! Drop off Dioramas between Oct. 15-18.
