All ages - join Pop Culture Classroom (PCC) and the Lafayette Library for Mini-Con, the event that brings family-friendly activities often associated with a big comic convention to Lafayette. This will include attractions for aspiring young creatives, kids who love pop culture, and their families and friends. 

Admission: This event is open to all members of the community and is entirely FREE of charge.

Details and Schedule

  • Live action role-playing duels: Renaissance Adventures will host thrilling foam sword duels that transport participants into the world of live-action role-playing.
  • Cryptid arts and crafts: participants will have the opportunity to craft their own cryptid creatures and their unique habitats, celebrating the beginning of spooky season!
  • Science exploration: the Colorado School of Mines will delve into the scientific wonders behind iconic pop culture elements such as the Mandalorian's armor, Thor's hammer, and Captain America's shield. Hands-on science experiments will engage participants in learning.
  • Panels and workshops: immerse yourself in enlightening discussions and workshops, including Fantasy World Building and Map Making, Halloween Costume Planning, Drawing Cartoon Animals, How to Draw Cool Characters, and Pixel Art Tutorial.
  • A brand-new Choose-Your-Own-Adventure: celebrate the power of storytelling and become a part of the tale! Create a character and immerse yourself in a text adventure with multiple story paths and endings.
  • Prop and costume design: Tomorrow Makers Studios' student filmmakers will show off their hand-crafted props and costumes in the library’s maker space, sharing insights into their creative process.
  • Drag Queen Storytime: Beloved local entertainer Shirley Delta Blow invites families to come dressed in their finest and celebrate people of all shapes, sizes, and forms! 
  • Video/board game library and gaming area: Have fun gaming and make new friends!
